Moon Musings - June
Rockport’s Austin Street Art Walk continues to be a delight, and we want to thank you for your enduring enthusiasm. We had a hunch that the time was right, and it has been pure joy! The best part is being able to spread the word and welcome new visitors to our cozy, affirming gallery and share the unique experience of Moon Over Water with our fellow business owners, art lovers, and friends. We find we are making new friends every day, and our beautiful community keeps growing. What could be better?
We began our community collage during the last Art Walk, and it was a big hit! We hope to display it at our next Art Walk on June 10th. Remember that Rockport’s Austin Street Art Walk occurs every second Saturday. We are busy planning opportunities for more community involvement, so stay tuned for more information as it becomes available!

For this month’s Mow Wow, we want to focus on two of our incredible artists, Karen Krumm and Emily McCauley.

Karen’s intense, dreamy color palette catches the eye of all of our gallery visitors, and her work is available in originals and prints, as well. She sees the world in vivid color saturations, and she joyfully invites you into her artistic vision. Karen tells us that her work begins as an abstract collage piece, layered with paint to establish a background for her subjects. Karen says, “I focus on plants and animals. I hope to draw the viewer into a deeper look at the beauty all around us. My goal is to inspire a connection to our magical and sacred world.”

Emily has always loved plants and marine life, and once she took a marine botany course in pursuit of her Master’s degree, she was hooked! She started Green Sea Designs to continue her passion for using art to communicate the importance of marine ecosystems.
For the last few years, Emily began taking classes at the Rockport Center for the Arts clay studio. She writes, “I am excited to explore the combination of this new medium with my botanical subjects, and am especially drawn to raku firing for its unique results and ability to use all kinds of substances in firing.”
